Changing the rear brake pads on your car with electronic park brake calipers? You need to release and rewind the electronic park brake.
This requires VCDS, OBDeleven, LAUNCH X431 or other expensive ECU/ODB interface, or taking the motor apart and other DIY methods.
With this simple tool, you can quickly wind back the park brake one side at a time, so the brake remains on on the other wheel while you work.
How it works:
1. Undo the brake reservoir lid a little so the excess fluid can be returned to the reservoir.
2. Raise and remove the wheel you are working on.
3. Remove guide pin caps and unbolt the guide pins.
4. Unplug the electronic handbrake connector and plug in this tool (ensure it is the handbrake motor not the ABS sensor.)
5. Switch on the tool for 3 seconds, you will hear the motor spin. The disc should now spin freely.
6. Push the old pads back and remove the caliper.
7. Remove the old pads.
8. Turn the tool back on, you will hear the motor spin again, when fully wound back the piston will start to spin and the motor noise will change. Turn the tool off.
9. Push piston back using manual piston push back tool.
10. Clean up the caliper, fit new pads (and disk if required).
11. Re-assemble. Remove tool and refit original connector. refit wheel and lower.
12. Turn on ignition (if you don't depress the clutch, the engine wont start as you don't require it) with brake pedal depressed, push handbrake switch down to disengage handbrake, pull handbrake switch to apply handbrake. This resets the handbrake motor.
You can now do the other side by repeating the whole process.
13. Tighten the fluid reservoir back up.
Alternatively you can disengage the handbrake before you start and skip stage 5, do both sides and stage 12 and 13 when both are done.

OMG this is the best £20 I’ve spent, the tool worked a treat and was so simple to use. Well done to the person who manufactured this piece of kit, no more being ripped off by VW or the rest of the VAG group.
